lillstreet

I went to my first sewing class at Lillstreet today! We met Emiliano's family, Irekani & Ana at my mother's for breakfast, where we feasted on the most delicious ham & cheese omelet! Ana brought some fresh fruit & juice for a smoothie. Then, I headed to Montrose & Ravenswood for an awesome day...

There's so much creativity that I went in smiling & with an even bigger smile & a french seam sample. I had taken fashion design at Columbia College Chicago when I was in my late teens and hadn't really sewn since. There were some things my instructor, Johana Moscoso (an artist in her own right), taught that I was familiar with. It's been a long time though, so it was a refreshingly new experience for me overall.

We'll be making a reversible bag & a tiny owl plush, both of which I decided will be gifts for my familia. We're picking out the fabric for the bag with my chino on Thursday. My mother will also be handing down her awesome sewing machine! It's a vintage machine that's attached to a wooden desk & has a metal pedal. I can't wait to start practicing on it!

This week will be a very creative intensive week, and I'm looking forward to it. It feels so good to be giving myself some much deserved & long-awaited ME TIME. <3
